The Rule of Four “С”

When picking an accompaniment to cognac, one should be guided by the Rule of Four “C”.

Really, these four things go with each other rather well. Here are these four things, the French names of which start with letter “c”: cognac (cognac), cafe (coffee), cigare (cigar, which at least can be replaced with a cigarette), and chocolat (chocolate). As to the fifth “С” — citron (lemon) — it shall not be served with cognac, as some people still do, either fresh, or as the so-called “nickolaychik” (with sugar powder and finely ground coffee), as sharp aroma and taste of a lemon kill a delicate bouquet of the drink.

A snifter of aged cognac and a cigar may become a wonderful ending to a nice dinner or supper. Cognac houses register the marks, which allegedly can best emphasize the merits of products of the relevant tobacco companies.
